Housing Channel is a Fort Worth-based community organization that has been helping people become homeowners for 35 years. Its FREE homebuyer education programs are open to all community members and include:
- Financial Fitness: Learn how to build or repair your credit, create a budget and prepare financially for homeownership.
- Homebuyer Orientation: Get an introduction to the homebuying process and learn about down payment assistance and other resources that may be available to help.
- Homebuyer Workshop: Take a deeper dive into mortgages, working with a real estate agent, home inspections, insurance, saving for home repairs and more.
Housing Channel also helps administer the City of Fort Worth and Tarrant County homebuyer assistance programs, which offer $25,000 to $50,000 in down payment and closing cost assistance for income-eligible buyers.
And that’s where Town Talk comes in! This fall, Town Talk Store Director Doug White will join Housing Channel’s Homebuyer Workshops during lunch to show prospective buyers how they can save money on groceries—and put those savings toward a down payment, future home repairs and other homeownership expenses.
If you’re ready to stop paying rent, Housing Channel and the Fort Worth Community Land Trust have newly rehabilitated homes for sale starting at approximately $135,000 at Carroll Park in South Fort Worth. Virtual information sessions are offered monthly, so why not sign up and learn more?
Homeownership may be closer than you think. Visit housingchannel.org to get started!
