Town Talk partners with numerous suppliers from several levels of the food industry. We purchase from manufacturers, distribution centers, warehouse intermediaries, transportation companies, brokerage firms, and independent distributors. Often, we create custom programs for these companies that facilitate their operations.
Due to the nature of our business, Town Talk has the ability to buy a wide assortment of products. Our licensing as a Salvage Retailer allows us to purchase products that would otherwise not fall into the overly strict parameters of the food service and grocery industries. There are many reasons why products are deemed to be unusable or unsalable in the primary market including:
- Short code date
- Discontinued
- Damage
- Insurance claim
- Load rejection
- Out of spec product
- Seasonal
Town Talk purchases products within many “normal” categories, but is not limited by them. “Normal” categories include the following:
- Dry groceries
- Dairy, milk, eggs, cheese, and other refrigerated foods
- Frozen meats, prepared meals, vegetables and other groceries
- Household cleaners, detergents and cleaning supplies
- Paper goods, bags and wraps
- Restaurant supplies
- Commercial cleaners and supplies
- Institutional/food service products
